To learn new things, we must challenge the things we currently know, or perhaps believe in. That starts with having an open mind.
Yeah, I said it: open your mind. Challenging your point of view is actually the healthiest part of getting smarter.
Here, let me give you an example.
Let's say you believe in "Subject X". You believe in it because of these possible reasons:
Born into it
You don't think for yourself
Or any combination of the four
Okay, now just because one of those reasons made you believe in Subject X, doesn't make it true. And, if it is true, challenging this belief shouldn't upset you.
Now, if challenging this belief upsets you, you are only lying to yourself. Challenging your point of views can only do two things if you actually like the truth rather than lies: reinforce this belief because the challenge proves it even more, or, make you see the truth because, well, why not? Why not stop lying to yourself and accept truth? Your problems, in fact, go away when you stop living in fantasy land.
So, today, I encourage you to take what you believe in, and all of your perspectives, and challenge them. Therefore, one of two things will happen:
THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE
YOUR BELIEF WILL BECOME STRONGER BECAUSE IT'S BEEN REINFORCED
Happy learning everybody! Remember to open your mind
